I have always doodled, painted, sketched and made marks on paper for as long as can remember. I found a happy place in my art and through many jobs, from cook to designer via shop worker and driver, I have always found peace and escapism in my art.

I am one of five pretty creative kids and with parents who liked art, photography and creativity it was a great place to experiment and be encouraged.

At art school I dabbled in all mediums but have always loved the magic of Impressionism. In a gallery or fine art, sculpture and works from all over the world and from hundreds of years ago to modern day, I will be focusing on brush marks and details in paintings which make sense when you take a step back.

I paint original paintings on hardboard panels using the best quality acrylic paints and sometimes oils. My subject is Scotland and Mother Nature and the wonderful views colours and places I am so lucky to call home.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long have you been painting?

I could say since I can remember but I have had a mixed relationship with painting. For many years I preferred the speed of pens, pencils and watercolour but in the past five or six years I have returned to a deeper more invested journey of painting with acrylics.

Why do you paint the way you paint?

I love the details. Seeing the brush strokes and having to work to see the subject as a whole. I hope to achieve a painting which can deliver slightly differently each time I look at it.

How many paintings do you make a year?

I try to produce 1-2 new paintings each month but I find sometimes I get a spurt of creativity or more time than usual and I can produce more, and on the other side occasionally I slow down but not often. I get fidgety if not painting 😊.

Why do you use Acrylic?

I like the way I can mix acrylics and keep working and pushing them around until I am happy. I occasional use oils but the length of time they need to dry makes it harder for me.

How do you price your paintings?

I charge by the size of the board, I find this keeps things consistent and easier for me. Each year I reassess my prices and have steadily been increasing them.

Do you do commissions?

Yes, I do but only a few each year. If you have an idea for a painting then I would love to hear from you and discuss a personal piece.
